Professional Background :

“Hey, you speak Spanish!” “¡Hablas Español! ” undoubtedly people are very surprised when they see an Asian person speaking fluent Spanish. However, what many do not know is that, Dr. Tomona’s grandparents immigrated from Japan to Peru many years ago. Therefore, she grew up with a mix of both Asian and Latino roots.

Dr. Liliana Tomona graduated with honors from Medical School at Universidad Mayor de San Marcos in Lima, Peru, in 1994.  She completed a 3-year Residency Program in Ophthalmology at the same university.   From 1994 until 2007, Dr. Tomona worked in private practice as well as in a social security hospital in Peru.

Dr. Tomona moved to the USA to complete a 3-year training in Family Medicine at Wyckoff Hospital in Brooklyn, New York. Her outstanding efforts during the training program led her to be nominated Chief Resident.

In 2010, Dr. Tomona moved to California. For two years, she worked at Marian Medical Center Dignity Health, helping the Latino community in Santa Maria. During the same period of time, Dr. Tomona was also a Clinical Assistant Professor of Family Medicine at Western University of Health Sciences.

Dr. Tomona would move to the Bay Area, working for Kaiser Permanente simultaneously teaching at Stanford University’s Medical School.

Dr. Tomona has also completed certification in aesthetic medicine, botox, fillers, weight management and medical fitness for primary care, platelet rich plasma, and advanced aesthetic workshops in Los Angeles and Miami.

Outside of the office, Dr. Tomona enjoys spending time with her husband Miguel and her son Erick. Some of her favorite activities are hiking, traveling, playing sports, reading, and watching movies with her family.
